Pick Buffer if
You post to one to three channels and want a free plan with plenty of queue, you need a network outside the 7 (the list above), you want reports you can hand to someone, or you run a small team on a shared queue.
Alternatives
Buffer is the simplest general-purpose scheduler in the category: a queue, a calendar and reports, priced per channel. It is a good fit if you post to one to three channels and want a free plan with a long track record, or you run a small team and want reports per channel. Posteora is a hosted posting agent: your assistant drafts and schedules, Posteora previews the cost, waits for your yes and posts. They overlap on scheduling, on an API and on an AI assistant; they differ on how the price scales and on who does the posting.

|---|---|---|
| Price, one person with 5 accounts | Essentials: $6 a channel a month, or $5 a channel a month billed annually, so 5 channels is $30 a month, or $25 billed annually. | Posts | Free: 10 queued per channel, refilled as posts publish. Paid: unlimited scheduling under a fair use policy of 5,000 posts per channel, counted as queue size rather than per month | Pro: unlimited posts, fair use of 600 per network per month. Free: 10 a month |

| AI assistant | Its own AI Assistant on every plan, with AI reply suggestions capped at 5 a week on Free. A "Social Media MCP" page is linked from the pricing page footer; the pricing page itself does not describe it | MCP on both plans for Claude, ChatGPT and Claude Code, with preview-then-approve and a cost receipt before anything is queued |
| Analytics | 30 days of insights on Free. Performance overview, custom analytics, reports and UTM parameters on paid plans, branded reports on Team | Per-post analytics for X, Bluesky, Mastodon, YouTube and Pinterest. Not a reporting suite |
| API | On every plan: Free has 1 key and 3,000 requests a month, Essentials 3 keys and 7,500, Team 5 keys and 15,000 | REST API and webhooks on both plans at /docs/api |
Buffer's fair use line is 5,000 posts per channel, and its help centre says this is a queue size, not a monthly limit. Posteora's is 600 posts per network per month, with daily caps per network so that no account trips a spam filter; the caps are on the pricing page. On the free plans the shapes differ: Buffer gives 3 channels with 10 queued posts each, refilled as they publish; Posteora gives all 7 networks with 10 posts a month in total and the assistant connection. Under 4 channels, Buffer's free plan is hard to beat on volume; the question is whether you want to post from a dashboard or from your assistant.
You post to one to three channels and want a free plan with plenty of queue, you need a network outside the 7 (the list above), you want reports you can hand to someone, or you run a small team on a shared queue.
You already work in Claude, ChatGPT or Claude Code and want to say "post this" and approve a receipt, you post to 4 or more of the 7 networks and the per-channel meter is why you are looking, and you want a free plan with no card to find out whether that fits you.
